An Overview of the Institute
The Multicultural Family Institute is a non-profit educational institution committed to family therapy training, research and consultation to community institutions from a Multicultural Systemic perspective. The Institute aims to provide training to therapists and counselors who work with individuals, couples, and families at any point in the life cycle. The Institute is committed to promoting social justice, countering the societal forces that undermine people because of race, gender, culture, class, sexual orientation or disability.

Clinical Services
Helping Families, Individuals, Couples and Groups
The Multicultural Family Institute's mental health professionals provide clinical services to families, individuals, couples and groups with a variety of presenting complaints. Systems-oriented clinicians provide brief consultations, problem-solving interventions, and more intense, long-term therapy. Comprehensive services are based on a collaborative team model with members of the faculty and other involved professionals. Low fee services are available and third-party payments are accepted.

Consultation and Training
Custom-Design Training Seminars
Through our consultation and training services, the Institute will custom design training seminars to meet the needs of your organization. Our faculty and associates have developed a national reputation for consultation and training to schools, businesses, corporations, social service agencies and other institutions in a variety of areas:

Family Therapy Training
The Institute offers an intensive two year Certificate Training Program in Family Therapy using family systems theory and practice. Each level builds on the next and includes didactic course work and small group supervision on a weekly basis. Training focuses on understanding family systems from a multigenerational perspective. The Family Institute's approach to family therapy training addresses issues of race, gender, class and culture. The training program also offers course work in Supervision of Family Therapy Supervision.

Special seminars are offered throughout the year for mental health professionals. These advanced seminars include: Advanced Case Consultation, Therapist's Own Family, Women & Systems, Feminist Application in Cultural Perspective, Impact of Addictions in the Therapist's Own Family, and Therapy with Families with Troubled Adolescents. In addition, the Institute offers group or individual supervision for psychology and social work licensure. Mini-seminars and conferences are also held throughout the year.

Long Distance Training
