This workshop will overview cultural values, attitudes and patterns relevant to working effectively with African American families and explore within-group variations linked to class and gender. The workshop will offer guidelines for engagement, assessment, clinical and preventive intervention. Key organizational and larger systems issues that must be addressed will be identified.
